Component Life Cycle check should be done on each BoM of a product to ensure that the components are available in the market whenever there is a requirement.

The components life cycle status is very dynamic in nature. This can be tracked via supplier PCNs for Tier1 suppliers (Standard Suppliers).  Since, not all the suppliers maintain automated PCN/PDN notification system, buyers do not receive PCNs/PDNs from these non-standard manufacturers resulting in obsolete parts in PLM / ERP systems.  A second scenario would be of not extracting the PCN/PDN information received from the suppliers. As a result of such cases, there could be disruption in assembly line due to non-availability of the components in the market, resulting product manufacturing delay/stoppage.
